I believe in the power of the Discovery program because of the skills it gives students to empower themselves. When students learn about anger management, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills, it allows them to be self aware and recognize patterns in behavior that have prevented them from succeeding in the past. I enjoy watching the transformation of students as they learn new skills and start practicing these skills to get their needs met in adaptive ways. With this knowledge students are able to make better choices that are in line with their individual goals. Students’ academic achievement  improves because students are equipped with tools to help them be successful. Students come and go through their core classes, but Discovery skills are skills that will last a life time.
